Role & Responsibilities of The Fire Warden
The Fire Warden role includes the checking of fire prevention systems, and managing emergency evacuations. By overseeing and recording the issues encountered in Fire Drills, the Fire Warden can identify hazards and the required control measures needed to maintain fire safety in the workplace. Along with checking fire safety equipment is in good order, the Fire Warden will also be involved in guiding people to safety, ensuring all occupants are accounted for by monitoring assembly points. Liaising with the emergency services can also be one of the Fire Warden duties.
Course Modules Include:
- Role & Responsibilities of the Fire Warden.
- Fire Safety Legislation.
- Hazard Identification
- Risk Assessment
- Emergency Evacuation Procedures
- Equipment Checks
- Fire Drills & Documentation.
- Fire Extinguisher Selection and use.
Emergency Evacuation Plans
In addition to assessing fire risks, preparing an escape plan is essential. This plan should outline clear and accessible escape routes for everyone on the premises. Consider factors such as the number of floors and possible obstacles. Regularly reviewing and practicing this escape plan ensures that everyone knows what to do in case of a fire. At least two emergency evacuation drills must be carried out by businesses in Ireland every year. Issues arising during fire drills must be recorded and addressed immediately, with appropriate control measures.
